DEAL FLOW PARTNERSHIP
The Founder Referral Process
Initial Referral Handoff
After a Deal Flow Partner identifies a Founder who might be a better fit for The Foudner’s Chair, they will provide an introduction to James, including basic info about the company and why the partner feels they would be better with TFC.
Welcome & Assessment
Upon receiving the referral, James will reach out to the Founder, acknowledging their journey with the referring partner and introducing TFC’s process. The Founder will be asked to complete an initial assessment* through The Lounge, where they can submit additional business information, documents, and relevant pitch materials.
*The assessment includes a brief questionnaire that will help us better understand their current stage, funding goals, and key business needs.
TFC Preparation Process
Once the Founder submits their information—assuming they’re a good fit—James will schedule a call to ensure alignment and provide feedback on how to strengthen their business materials for the upcoming TFC event*.
*TFC offers pre-event coaching and guidance, ensuring the Founder is well-prepared to present to the curated group of investors in a compelling way.
Event & Investor Engagement
The Founder will then be included in the upcoming TFC event cohort, where they’ll present to a highly vetted group of Funders. Following their presentation, Founders will receive feedback from Funders and may enter a 30-60-day deal window where they negotiate and finalize investment terms.

Understanding our
event-style model
Every four months, we will select our next group of founders from among the most promising proposals we receive and invite them, along with four or five Funders, to a two-day meeting. Here, prospective founders will privately present their pitches, receive feedback, and possibly secure funding.
The goal is to ensure that whether a Founder leaves with a commitment or not, they receive actionable advice to help ensure they will occupy the founder’s chair at their company for many years to come.
